Kathe Kollwitz (German, 1867-1945): “Woman with Folded Hands” (Frau mit ubereinandergelegten handen). Etching and aquatint. Posthumous impression printed by Alexander von der Becke, Verlag des graphischen Werkes von Kathe Kollwitz. $625.

Mary Stevenson Cassatt (1844-1926). Mother and Child. Color etching and aquatint. Pencil signed lower right, and signed in the plate lower left. $4,200.

John Buckland Wright (Australian, 1897-1954). Wood engraving illustration for The Masque of Red Death and Other Tales, Halcyon Press, 1932 (one of several rejected illustrations). Pencil signed lower right. $475.

August Brouet (French, 1872-1941). Etching and drypoint of workshop (?). Pencil signed lower right. Edition 29/60. Publisher and collector (?) stamps. $350.

Fernand Simeon (French, 1994-1928). Bar scene with gramophone. Color wood engraving and gouache (?) illustration for unidentified publication. $225.

Jacobus Marie Prange (Dutch, 1904-1972): Still life of fish and crab. Wood engraving. Pencil signed, numbered 20/25. Circa 1930s-50s. $450.

JM Prange was a graphic artist, surrealist, and photographer. He exhibited with MC Escher in the 1950s.  In honor of his fellow graphic artists, Escher produced a woodcut featuring Prange’s name as well as two others. Following World War 2, Prange wrote art criticism for the social-democratic paper Het Parool, which was founded in 1941 as a resistance publication to the German occupation of the Netherlands.
